The Benefits of the RCX Annual Challenge
The Annual Challenge brings out Leadership and Communication within the teams. Team members need to discuss and strategize to agree on a path to follow.
Teams use Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills to address how to construct the robot. How to program the robot. Work through trial and error. And consider what other teams will do.
While the students "Design, Construct & Program" the robot, Math and Science techniques are used to program the robot's action as it moves across the Board. Weight Distribution, Torque and Friction must be overcome as the robot maneuvers and activates Mission Objects.
For schools which sponsor more than one team, students develop Networking Skills by communicating with other teams. Some teams contact other schools to work through programming and design problems.
Career Ready opportunities exist by offering Mentoring and Coding options for older students.
